The STTC Try A Trade event provides students with an opportunity to ‘have a go’ at various skill and trade occupations.

The activities are entertaining and informative and offer interested students access to some of the basic skills involved in Electro Technology, Metal Engineering, Fabrication and Cabinet Making/Furniture Making/Carpentry. The Try a Trade event seeks to:

  • Motivate students and others through a fun, hands on experience.
  • Share current and honest information about future career choices.
  • Encourage participants to appreciate that skill education and training offer real choices for the future.
  • Allow students to meet and talk with trade professionals, apprentices, VET teachers / trainers / lecturers and local industry people.

We are running the STTC Try a Trade program for current Year 10 students again this year from Wednesday April 5 – Thursday 6 April.  It is a free program, however it is not a two day holiday.  Students need to be keen and be ready to have a go.  They attend the Swan Trade Training Centre both days, and get a chance to experience Electro Technology, Metal Fabrication and Carpentry.  The idea is for students to try all the trades and see what perhaps grabs their interest.

Students need to register online at https://tinyurl.com/STTCTAT17. For any questions about the program, please email peterb@scea.wa.edu.au or call me on 9374 8385.
