Year 3 Zoo Excursion

The Year 3 students had a wonderful day at Perth Zoo recently.  Here are some of their observations:

Hayden - The female lion came really close to us, and she was looking right at us. I felt as though we were the ones in a cage.

Ella - It was fun to see all the animals.

Donovan - I liked to watch the dinosaurs hiding in the bushes. These were added to the zoo recently, because last time I went they weren’t there.

Addison - The rainforest felt cool because the sprinklers made it feel like it was raining.

Ky - I liked reading all the information and learning more about the animals.

Madelyn - It was cool to see the dingoes come out of their enclosure and go for a walk with the zookeepers.

Austin - The dinosaurs looked realistic.  It felt like they were going to reach down and eat us if we were too close.

6B Assembly

On Wednesday of Week 8, Year 6B presented their assembly. It was a little nerve-wracking for all the students to be the first class up for the year!

The group pulled together to decide on a theme, create a presentation and write their own scripts. During class we have been focusing on persuasive speaking through our Nobel Prize debates, so 6B decided to present a gameshow styled session on a few of our class’s nominees: Betty Williams, Martin Luther King Junior, Malala Yousafzai, Fiona Wood and Thomas Edison.

The students practised hard and committed themselves to the presentation. The result was a fun, informative and smoothly run assembly! It was great to see all 6B students working together to represent Year 6 to the College. Well done to the 6B class!

WACSSA Cricket Carnival

In Week 8, 20 of our Swan Christian College students set off to the WACSSA Cricket Carnival at Ron Jose Oval. As Richie Benaud would have said “it was a beautiful day for a game of cricket” and the students were excited to start the day.

The boys fought hard in the first match and won by a few runs. From then on they showed a lot of class and determination to take out the day with no losses, coming home as Champions of the 2016 WACSSA Cricket Carnival.

The girl's team finished in second place, very close behind Ellenbrook Christian College. They are to be congratulated for their excellent sportsmanship and sheer determination to do their best.

Thank you to all the parents and teachers who came to support our students on the day.

WACSSA Swimming Carnival

Last Thursday, a group of Year 4 to 6 students represented Swan Christian College at the WACCSA Interschool Swimming Carnival. The competitors showed great team spirit as they cheered for their peers and swam with determination and power.

The day was well attended by parents and everyone enjoyed the friendly and competitive atmosphere.  The College placed fifth out of a total of eight schools.  Big congratulations to Zac J who was awarded 3rd place.
