STEM Dynamic Trolleys from Swan Christian College on Vimeo.

The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) disciplines are being used for some exciting new learning innovations at the College.

Swan Trade Training Centre students, under the guidance of Mr Gray Blattman, have kindly constructed ride on dynamics trolleys for use in the Year 10 Advanced Science program.

By riding on and experiencing collisions, Science students will be experiencing forces through receptors in their skin, joints and muscles helping them to further develop their conceptions of Newtonian Physics. This is essentially a kinaesthetic approach to learning.

Men of the Trees Excursion

At Swan Christian College we seek to encourage students to gain an appreciation of the environment and participate in activities that will benefit the community.

On 23 February the Swan Justice League students were invited by Men of the Trees to participate in seeding and potting of trees and shrubs which will be used to help vegetate the Chittering area later this year. The session began with a tour and a talk on the history of the Men of the Trees, which is over 90 years old. The students then worked hard for a couple of hours seeding and re-potting hundreds of plants.

It was an enjoyable and educational  morning for our students and ultimately of significant importance to our environment.
