Teaching and Learning
Members of the teaching team at Swan Christian College have been selected for their ability to encourage our students to identify and utilise their gifts, as well as being authentic Christian role models. As well as requiring excellent teaching qualifications, we look for adults with the ability to be mentors, encouragers, believers and opportunity-makers. We also aim to have a dynamic partnership between home and school, recognising that parents are the first and prime educators of their children.
Real learning can only take place in the context of real community, so we recognise and nurture differences at the same time as achieving an overall sense of unity. Christian education should not foster individualism, but rather collaboration and community.
Good learning is concerned with qualities and attitudes, knowledge and understanding, and the development of students' varied abilities and skills in relation to Christ and his creation, and to oneself and others. Students are equipped with the knowledge, skills and values to be well-rounded and valuable members of society.
