Information regarding Year 7 Scholarships

The following information applies to Scholarships for 2014, applications are now closed. Information regarding applying for a scholarship in 2015 will be available from early January 2014.

General Information

Scholarships are open to all pre-enrolled students who have a place in the next year's intake as well as students who are not yet enrolled and wish to apply. Requirements for scholarships are:

1. Academic Scholarship Examination

  • Consists of two multiple choice tests in Mathematics and Humanities and two writing tasks
  • Duration: Approx. 2 ½ (with a short break in the middle of the two sections of the exam)
  • Cost: $105

2. Arts Scholarship

  • To be eligible for the Arts Scholarship, students must also sit the Academic Scholarship examination.
  • Students must write a 300 word essay describing their involvement in the Arts area (art, drama, dance or music)
  • This essay is to be hand written by the student at home and submitted on the day of the Academic Scholarship examination to the teacher in charge.
  • Students may include a small portfolio of artwork (maximum five pieces) or request a five minute audition in their chosen artistic area.

3. Citizenship Scholarship

  • To be eligible for the Citizenship Scholarship, students must also sit the Academic Scholarship examination.
  • Students must write a 300 word essay about themselves describing the activities that they are involved in at school and in the community.
  • This essay is to be hand written by the student at home and submitted on the day of the Academic Scholarship examination to the teacher in charge.

4. Indigenous Scholarship

  • This scholarship is available to indigenous students only.
  • To be eligible for this scholarship the student must sit the Academic Scholarship examination.
  • Students must write an essay about their indigenous heritage and culture. The essay will be approximately 300 words in length.
  • This essay is to be hand written by the student at home and submitted on the day of the Academic Scholarship examination to the teacher in charge.

Arts, Citizenship and Indigenous Scholarships
Parents need to specify if their child is also registering for the Arts, Citizenship or Indigenous Scholarships by completing the fields under Specialist Scholarships. Students who wish to request an audition as part of the Arts Scholarship must do so on this screen. Auditions will be scheduled for the afternoon of Friday 10 May 2013 at the conclusion of the examination.

Students who are short listed for these scholarships may be required to attend an interview.

The winner of the Academic Scholarship will be expected to maintain a high level of achievement in their core subjects for each year of their enrolment. Likewise, the winners of the Arts, Citizenship and Indigenous Scholarships will be expected to be involved in related College programs in their respective area of interest for each year of their enrolment.
