To kick off Term 2, the Year 2s held a multicultural food fair. Parent helpers came and ran various food stations, as well as shared fun facts about the different places.

The students tried a variety of traditional cuisines including Italian, Mexican, Thai, Burmese, Canadian, American and Afrikaans. We even enjoyed some food we consider traditional to Australian culture, such as lamingtons and ANZAC biscuits.

We had so much fun and the students all tuned in to the wonderful learning that will take place throughout the term. Here are some special highlights from the afternoon’s event:

  • “I liked trying all of the food. My favourite was the sushi from the Japan station.” – David B (2B)
  • “I loved trying chocolate from the Canada station.” – Mikayla D (2B)
  • “I loved tasting food to see if I liked it or not. My favourite was the popcorn from the Mexico station.” – Reece D (2A)
  • “I learned that popcorn came from Mexico.” – Finlay S (2B)

The Bible says in Psalm 139, that “you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” This term, as we explore other cultures and countries around the world, we will look through the lens of this verse at how God has created all of us and that we are unique. We will celebrate differences and focus on how we all need each other!

A special thank you to all those who volunteered on the day and contributed a dish from their culture. It was definitely a day to remember!
