On Monday 13 September a team of approximately 100 Senior School students and five staff travelled to the WA Athletics Stadium to represent Swan in the ACC D-Division athletics carnival.

After a bit of a chaotic and tough start to the carnival, we found ourselves down the bottom of the leaderboard. Once we got settled and into the day, we were able to keep pace with the other schools, but ultimately, we couldn’t bridge the gap. In the end, Swan finished eighth, just 24 points behind seventh. This means will be down to E-Division for 2022, but I am excited about the challenge of working our way back into D-Division.

As always, our students competed well and represented Swan with pride. I was particularly impressed with students who demonstrated a team-first attitude by stepping into events at the last minute as the need arose. It was also great to see some of our students placing highly in events, with a number of wins coming across the track and field.

The following students placed consistently high throughout the day, receiving individual honours:

Jayden (Year 11)

Second Place

Annaleigh (Year 11)

Female OPEN

Second Place

Maggie (Year 10)

Female U/16

Second Place

Janneke (Year 9)

Female U/15

Second Place

The carnival was live-streamed and recorded, and can be viewed via the following link:

Thank you to the parents who came to support and to the staff who worked tirelessly to help students get to events.

I look forward to next year’s opportunity for our students to test themselves at the carnival.
