Cambodia 2015 Day 8

On Friday we went to the Cambodia Care Centre which houses a church and school. It is situated in one of the poorest areas of Phnom Penh. Our students ran three sessions for the school in the morning, and three again in the afternoon for a different group of students. Activities included craft, singing, and games. The age of the children was around 4 to 16 years old. The students certainly developed a greater appreciation for what teachers go through!

During lunch the Pastor took us for a walk through the surrounding slum area, and told us some of the stories of the people who live there. It was very confronting and showed us what real poverty looks like.

At the end of the morning session, and the afternoon session, the school students were sent home with a meal paid for by a donation from SCC. All due credit to our Swan students who were exhausted after the morning session, but managed to complete the day with enthusiasm and a smile. And thank you to the school teachers who assisted the team.
