We are excited to announce that tickets are on sale now for the upcoming hilarious Fenceline Theatre Company Production, Imperial Briefs – A Family Friendly Pantomime by Jane Hille. The play will feature actors from the Swan community including alumni and our own Head of Performing Arts, Mr Andrew Matthews as the Emperor. Pantomime is a genre of theatre that involves slapstick and comedy; singing and dancing; as well as plots and characters most often derived from folklore, fairy tales, or fables. The pantomime will be a take on the fairy tale, The Emperor’s New Clothes, and the whole family is invited for a wonderful night out!
The Swan Hospitality team will have delicious pre-show meals served such as Thai Beef Massaman Curry, Cheese Tortellini, Tortellini Soup with Italian Sausage and Kale or Popcorn Chicken & Chips, that you can order online or purchase on the night.

About Imperial Briefs:
Imperial Briefs is a flip on the 1937 Hans Christian Andersen story of the Emperor’s New Clothes. In this version, two criminals named Itchy and Scratchy, devise a pretend career in the ‘imaginary arts’ to trick the Imperial Highness and rid him of his wealth for themselves.
They scheme a way to become the Imperial Highness’s new tailors and promise to deliver to him unspeakably beautiful and magical clothing that will allow the Imperial Highness to discern corruption within his palace. A handy skill to have if you are in charge! Fortunately, for Itchy and Scratchy, the Imperial Highness is tremendously vain and so they are gainfully employed, and their elaborate pretending begins.
The Imperial staff are enormously relieved, all except the Imperial Mirror. He watches Itchy and Scratchy carefully and suspects there is more to their fashion designing than meets the eye. Somehow, the Imperial Mirror must find a way to help the others working for the Imperial Highness to tell the truth about what it is they actually do or do not see, even if it means there could be dire consequences for them all!
This is a light hearted look at vanity and how easily we can become ‘compliant for compliant’s sake’ to those who hold ‘power’. It is often easier to allow ourselves to be manipulated than to risk our own bacon!
