Lots of things are happening at Fenceline Theatre this term. We are creating space for students to participate in performing arts as part of their comprehensive journey at Swan Christian College and the enthusiam is noticeable.

Last week, a group of alumni even popped in on our rehearsal to offer their support.

Please visit our new website fencelinetheatrecompany.com.au to find out more about our upcoming and past productions, as well as a record of all the performing arts talent in our College. Fenceline Theatre is also on Facebook and Instagram. Please follow us to stay up to date with what’s happening in the world of the theatre company.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

This whimsical tale of potions, forest fairies and unrequited love is gathering momentum. The students are working really hard on interpretation, choreography, developing fabulous theatre voices and character movements, as our Shakespearean adapted tale begins to take shape more fully.

Tickets are available on tinyurl.com/midsummer19

Please come along and support these clever students in the show.

The Pied Piper of Middle Swan

We auditioned some very excited and enthusiastic Junior School performers for our upcoming production, ‘Pied Piper of Middle Swan’. We are going to enthral you with rats and character in our narrative with a twist from the Robert Browning 1800 poem.

At lunchtimes, the Year 3 and 4 students will rehearse in the Junior School undercover area with Mrs Balla and myself. The Year 5 and 6 students will rehearse after school with me in the Maali Mia Theatre. This show will hit the stage at the end of Term 3.

Dramatic Arts Extension Program.

Students in Year 4,5,6 have also begun an extension program with me on Tuesday afternoons. This term, our focus is on learning some basic theatre skills that will help the students create their own piece of work which we hope to show you at the end of this term.

Friends by the Fence

Fenceline Theatre Company is extending an invitation for you to become a ‘Friend’ of the theatre company. This year the company is very busy, with the next big production being A Midsummer Night’s Dream with more than 40 students in the cast!

We would appreciate some wonderful parents support to be a part of the creative team that works behind the scenes to bring the wonderful theatre we do to audiences. You don’t have to have any experience in theatre or performance work, but if you do that would be wonderful.

  • You might like to help backstage with costume?
  • You might like to help backstage with makeup?
  • You might like to help Front of House with programs and seating?
  • You might like to help with choreography and small rehearsal groups?
  • You might like to help during rehearsals?

Your children don’t even have to be involved, but if they are that is also terrific. The students really enjoy having the opportunity to work with parents and I would really appreciate any extra talents and support throughout the process.

You are free to make whatever type of commitment you’d like, but obviously, as we get closer to performance, there is a greater need. Please think about whether you have a couple of hours spare in your busy weeks to share with us.

Please contact me at fenceline@swan.wa.edu.au if you have any questions about ‘Friends by the Fence’.

Thank you for your ongoing support!
