On 15 August a group of students from Years 7 to 12 traveled to the Subiaco Arts Centre to participate in the 2016 Youth on Health Festival (YOH Fest) competition heats.

YOH Fest, Western Australia’s biggest youth performing arts event, gives high school students throughout WA the opportunity to take part in an innovative and revolutionary approach to health education.

Our students spent the day rehearsing both in the dressing rooms and in the theatre. The stage at the Subiaco Arts Centre is very different from the Maali Mia stage where they have previously performed their dance, which posed challenges for spacing and back stage use that the girls handled with determination and commitment. They confidently performed a dance choreographed around the 2016 theme of Resilience.

We are all very proud of their efforts and commitment to the night and are looking forward to hearing the results of the heats on the 22 September when we will find out if we are through to the finals!
