2019 Luke Durbridge Sport Scholarship

The Luke Durbridge Sport Scholarship is being offered once again to students in Years 7-11 for 2019.


About the Luke Durbridge Sport Scholarship

Luke Durbridge, Swan Christian College alumnus and current member of the international cycling team Mitchelton-Scott, initiated the scholarship in 2015 to encourage and support athletes in the following fields:

  • Road Cycling
  • Track Cycling
  • General Triathlon
  • Adventure Racing

The money provided through this scholarship can be used in a range of ways such as purchasing of equipment, travel to events and coaching.


About Luke Durbridge

Luke is a professional cyclist from Perth and discovered cycling after participating in various sports in his younger years. Having dabbled in rugby, basketball and triathlon, at the age of 15 he made the transition to road and track cycling.

He won numerous national titles in his junior years, including three U19 World Championships and received a bronze medal in the Individual Time trial at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India.  In 2012 Luke turned professional with GreenEDGE Cycling (now Mitchelton-Scott) and went on to win dual national titles at the Australian Road Championships with the Individual Time Trial and Road Race. Luke continues to be a competitive member of the Mitchelton-Scott team and has competed in the Tour de France since 2014, finishing four out of five Tours.


How to apply

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be able to meet the following requirements:

1)     Have a high level of attendance at the College

2)     Be in good standing within the College (both behavioural and academic)

To apply for the scholarship, athletes must write a letter of application addressed to the Principal via the Principal’s PA Mrs Natalee Friend by Friday 9 November 2018 addressing the following criteria:

  • Name of applicant
  • Category of sport
  • Individual goals for the sport
  • How does the candidate believe they would benefit from the scholarship?
  • Why does the candidate believe they are worthy of the scholarship?

2020 Senior School Scholarship

Applications for the 2020 Senior School Scholarship have not yet opened. Please re-visit this website in early 2019, for more information about the 2020 scholarship program.

The Senior School Scholarship runs over three years (Years 10-12) and offers up to 50% remission of academic tuition fees for these years.

Senior School Scholarship applicants must demonstrate strong academic performance in the Australian Core Skills Framework Level 2 examination (ACEP). The continuation of the scholarship will depend upon the student’s positive conduct and academic progress.  The student’s results will be reviewed once a year.


About the Australian Core Skills Framework Level 2 examination (ACEP) 

The exam consists of three subtests in the areas of Humanities, Mathematics/Science and Written Expression. Duration of the exam is approximately 2 ½ hours (with a short break in the middle of the two sections of the exam). Cost is $110 (to be confirmed). Last year, the examination took place at Swan Christian College.
