Open Metalwork

The aim of this course is for participants to weld and fabricate a metal project of their choice. It will build on their previous skills learnt in the beginning welding course whilst allowing them to learn a new skill set.

Participants will develop their skills in:

  • Gas metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
  • Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)
  • CNC Plasma Cutting
  • Bending and Forming
  • Metal Fabrication

The following are some project ideas:

  • Trailer refurbishment
  • Metal workbench
  • Metal gates
  • Bbq spit

Participants will need to email plans/drawings to luken@scea.wa.edu.au 2 weeks before the commencement of the course for the instructor to look over. Participants will need to provide all material required for their project. If needed we can purchase the material required however adequate time will need to be given to do this.

The course will be held in our brand new Swan Trade Training Centre (STTC) facility using the quality systems and equipment provided in them.

Participation in the Introduction to Welding course or prior welding experience is required to participate in this course.
