Participants of this course have access to the many tools and machines available in the Trade Training Centre and are able to fabricate a wood project of their choosing. If necessary Swan connect staff are available to assist in designing and fabricating of the project, as participants further their skills by producing more challenging projects. This course also provides the opportunity for participants to work with some of Western Australia’s decorative hardwoods.
Participants will develop their skills in:
- Project design and development
- Wood machining and joinery
- Dressing timber
- Finishing projects
The following are projects which may be suitable depending on experience:
- Coffee table
- Ornate jewellery box or vanity
- Blanket box
- Bed head
- Picture and mirror frames
Participants requiring extensive staff assistance to design and construct their project are required to email plans/drawings, along with an accurate materials list to email@example.com at least 2 weeks before the commencement of the course for the instructor to look over. Participants will need to provide all material required for their project. Some material is available for purchase, however adequate time is required if timber is needed to be dressed. Note that no secondhand/ recycled wood can be used on Swan Trade Training Centre machinery.
The course will be held in our brand new Swan Trade Training Centre (STTC) facility using the quality equipment provided.
This course is for participants who have either completed the ‘Introduction to woodwork’ course or can provide evidence of their previous experience with using workshop machinery.

|Full payment or proof of payment must be received on registration as a requirement of attendance. Written applications for refunds and transfers will be accepted within 5 clear working days before the commencement of the course. Cancellations received up to 5 working days before the course are refundable minus a $50 registration service charge. If a course is required to be cancelled due to low numbers, students will be advised by phone no later than 2 days prior to the event. You are welcome to transfer your enrolment to another person if you cannot attend the course. Please advise us of this so we can update our attendance lists.|
