Last Friday, our Junior School students enjoyed a special Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea filled with delicious treats, meaningful moments and beautiful musical performances. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the mothers, grandmothers and significant women in our community.
Thank you for the love, care and encouragement you pour into the lives of our students each day. We hope you felt valued and appreciated.
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” – Proverbs 31:25

Our 5B students enjoyed a special classroom visit this week, with six-week-old chickens kindly brought in by one of our families. The students had the opportunity to hold, feed, and closely observe the chickens as they moved together as a flock. It was a fantastic hands-on learning experience and sparked lots of curiosity and excitement in the classroom. We look forward to seeing how they continue to grow!

Last Thursday, our Junior School Music Eisteddfod provided a wonderful opportunity for students in Years 3-6 to share their musical talents and growing confidence as performers. Across three sessions throughout the day, students performed a variety of pieces on their instruments and demonstrated great courage, preparation and perseverance in front of their peers and families.
We were delighted to welcome adjudicator Mrs Carmen Vasiu from Mundaring Christian College, who spoke highly of all the performers and was impressed by the quality of the performances. Mrs Vasiu encouraged students to continue practising their instruments, reminding them that research has shown learning and practising music helps increase intelligence and supports brain development.
A special thank you to Mr Kane Shaw, Miss Christie Forrester, Mr Max Perin and Mr Karl Dietrich for their hard work in coordinating the event, as well as our parents, staff and students for their support in making the day such a success.
On Wednesday 13 May, we welcomed a group of staff and students from CAPS in Coolgardie to Swan Christian College. CAPS is an abbreviation for Christian Aboriginal Parent Directed School. The vision of CAPS Coolgardie is to provide a Christ-centred education, that nurtures students spiritually, educationally, and socially; in an inclusive learning environment that embraces the richness of the Aboriginal (First Nations) heritage.
During their visit, the group enjoyed a tour of our beautiful College, sampled some of the delicious food prepared by our Hospitality team, and spent two periods in our Swan Trade Training Centre. Under the guidance of Mr Norman and his Year 11 Metal students, each visitor had the opportunity to make their own toolbox.
Many of the students who attended the CAPS trip last year also joined the group for lunch, providing a wonderful opportunity to reconnect and share memories from their time together.
Later this year, a team of Swan staff and students will travel to Coolgardie to visit the CAPS community.

Have you ever considered what a life of “no music” might be like?
Chaos is the answer! As evidenced in the Fenceline Theatre Production written and directed by Jane Hille and recently performed in the Maali Mia Theatre. The crash of genres came together in an overlay of comedic farce, interrupted by hilarious moments of physical theatre, resulting in a maelstrom of exaggerated action, gags, melodramatic moments and unfinished sentences. Thank you, Ms Hille!
Congratulations to all involved. Congratulations to the Year 12s, performing in their last school play. And congratulations to Sebastian Weeks and Joshua Jarvis who have performed in nine (9) Fenceline plays over their years at Swan. We thank these young men especially, but also all the cast and crew, for sharing their talents with us once again.
But speaking of “no music”… there was music – music to which the “no music” action took place. And if that doesn’t make sense, it means you missed the show. Oh well, hope to see you next time.
Mr Andrew Matthews
Head of Performing Arts

Today, the STTC community gathered in The Swan Centre (Gym) for a special Mother’s Day Breakfast to celebrate the mothers and significant women in our students’ lives. It was a wonderful morning of connection, appreciation and community as families enjoyed time together over a delicious hot breakfast.
A special thank you to our Hospitality team and staff for their hard work in preparing and organising the breakfast and helping make the morning such a memorable occasion for our families.
