Swan Christian College marked R U OK? Day on 10 September by wearing a touch of yellow and taking part in activities that encouraged students to connect, check in with one another and remember the importance of looking out for those around them.
Throughout the day, Senior School students were encouraged to take time to ask a simple but important question: “Are you OK?” The day served as a reminder that meaningful conversations can make a difference and that listening well is an important way we can care for others.
A group of Senior School students also helped spread some kindness by handing out lollies to students around the College, creating another opportunity to connect and brighten someone’s day.
R U OK? Day complements the College’s broader approach to student wellbeing. Through our Living Well program, students are supported in their holistic development, with a focus on areas including positive relationships, resilience, mental health, leadership and spiritual wellbeing.
Students are also reminded that support is always available at the College. Our chaplains are an important part of our pastoral care and wellbeing support, and students are encouraged to reach out and have a conversation with a chaplain whenever they need someone to talk to.
While R U OK? Day provides an important reminder, caring for one another is something we seek to practise every day at Swan Christian College. By checking in, listening and making time for others, we can continue to build a community where students feel known, valued and supported.

Our Junior School Philippines Day will be taking place on Friday 25 September. Our big focus for the day is a Colour Fun Run. This day is an opportunity for our school community to support the two schools that we have connections with in the Philippines.
On Philippines Day and in the lead-up, students will have the opportunity to consider what it truly means to ‘Love Your Neighbour’ through focusing on the change that we can make in raising funds towards projects that can make a long-lasting difference for our brothers and sisters in the Philippines.
Our students will come together and participate in our Philippines Day Colour Fun Day. They will be seeking online sponsorship for their efforts on Philippines Colour Fun Day; all funds raised will go towards the schools with whom we work closely.
So far, we have raised around $6,000 with 2B in the lead.

Join us for this year’s Junior School production, A Hairy Tale, a fun-filled retelling of the classic Rapunzel story. Performed by our talented Junior School students, this colourful, chaotic and hilarious fairy tale parody is brought to life through song, movement and drama. It’s a fast-paced production the whole family will enjoy.
Somewhere deep within the enchanted Wychwood Forest, two supremely spoiled royals lived a life of absolute luxury, until their bratty behaviour finally went too far. Banished from their home, Prince Rupert and Princess Iphigenia cannot return until they discover the true meaning of love and sacrifice. But surviving the wilderness is no easy task, especially when they crash into a haircut-evading Rapunzel, a trendy Big Bad Wolf, and peasant siblings who traded their family electronics for five highly questionable magic beans!

This special evening featured outstanding performances from our Senior School music classes, celebrating their dedication, creativity, and passion for music. The evening included recital style performances from our Year 12 music students, as well as class-ensemble performances from the Year 10 and 12 classes. We also had a special treat as Dean of Instrumental Music, Kane Shaw had his first singing debut by performing with the Year 10 ensemble to the song ‘Can’t Stop’, by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Congratulations to all students involved and thank you to our Music staff for their dedication in preparing such an enjoyable evening!
