The College would like to make families aware of a range of free parenting programs and workshops available in Term 2 through the Midvale Hub Parenting Service (Perth North East). These sessions are designed to support parents and carers in strengthening family relationships, building confidence in parenting, and supporting the wellbeing and development of children and young people.
A variety of programs are available across the City of Swan, including sessions focused on topics such as supporting neurodiverse children, emotion coaching, managing anxiety, and practical parenting strategies for different age groups. There are also several online workshops available for families who prefer to participate from home.
Families interested in learning more or registering their interest can view the full list of programs through the Humanitix page:

These programs provide a helpful opportunity for parents to connect with others and gain practical tools to support their children’s growth and wellbeing.

What is it about?
This is a comic farce about a theatre company that has lost its money! In a desperate attempt to rebuild the coffers, they need a show in a hurry and decide to do a whodunnit mystery in an Austrian Abbey called The Sound of No Music. As the rehearsals commence, so does the chaos and the ensemble navigate their parody, while trying to find out where that money has gone.
Purchase your tickets now before Term 2 at discounted prices at The Sound of No Music.

Our Year 11 English students recently visited the Primary School to support the Year 5s with their narrative writing. They focused on developing effective settings within the writing framework, while also giving the Year 5 students the opportunity to read their writing aloud, talk through their ideas, and receive feedback from an older peer.
As part of this “Writing Buddy” session, the Year 11 students listened carefully, highlighted a strength in each piece, and supported the Year 5 students in improving one or two sentences. This provided a valuable opportunity for the younger students to build confidence in their writing, while the older students developed their mentoring and editing skills.
It was a wonderful experience for both groups. The Year 11s thoroughly enjoyed stepping into a teaching role, offering feedback, and engaging with the younger students’ work.
Thank you, Miss McChesney, and the Year 5 students, for providing such a valuable and purposeful learning opportunity.

Our Easter Assembly has been rescheduled and will now take place on Wednesday 1 April from 2:00pm-3:00pm in the Gym. Led by our Student Leaders, the assembly will include a guest speaker along with special performances from the Piccolo Choir, Avanti Choir and the Year 5-6 String Ensemble.
We hope you can join us to reflect on the Easter message and celebrate the end of Term 1 together.
Throughout this term, the Gym has been buzzing at lunchtime as students took part in the House volleyball competitions, with great support from both staff and students cheering from the sidelines.
The Year 11-12 tournament was played first, with Bell facing Mungulu in the final on Tuesday this week. Mungulu came away with the win, with the team proudly representing the “Purple Haze”. Mungulu seems to be on a winning streak as they also won the Year 9-10 Tournament.
The Year 7-8 final proved to be a thrilling contest. Shenton held a comfortable 10-point lead with less than two minutes remaining, but Bell fought back strongly, stringing together a run of points to bring themselves right back into the game. In a dramatic moment late in the match, a ‘chest pass’ from a Bell player returned the serve to Shenton, who held their nerve to secure the victory as time expired.
Thank you to the many staff who came down to the gym to watch and support the students. Your encouragement continues to strengthen the spirit of our House culture.
We now look forward to House futsal kicking off in Term 2.

We are pleased to introduce the Swan Christian College Careers Team, people dedicated to supporting students as they explore and plan their pathways beyond school. The team consists of Nathalee Holmes (Workplace Learning Coordinator), Cheri MacDonagh (Worklink Manager), and David Pethick (Careers Practitioner), working collaboratively to provide guidance and opportunities for all students.
Together, we support students in understanding the wide range of options available after school. The world of work is constantly changing, and students are faced with many possible pathways, including university, vocational education and training (VET), apprenticeships, traineeships, and emerging industries. Our role is to help students navigate these choices by providing accurate information, personalised support, and meaningful experiences.
A key part of our work involves building strong connections with external organisations. We engage with universities, TAFE providers, training groups, employers, and industry representatives to create valuable opportunities for students. These include guest speakers, career events, industry visits, work experience, workplace learning, traineeships, and information sessions that give students real insight into potential career pathways.
We believe that career development is more than simply choosing a job. It is about helping students understand their interests, strengths, and values so they can make informed and confident decisions about their future. Through conversations, pathway planning, and real-world experiences, we support students as they begin to explore their aspirations and consider the possibilities ahead.
As a team, we are committed to working alongside students, families, and staff to ensure every student is supported in developing a clear and meaningful pathway beyond school. We look forward to working with you and assisting with your child’s career journey.
