This week began with the WA Day Public Holiday on Monday before students and staff returned to a busy schedule of learning and activities. Year 10 Exam Week commenced alongside examinations for our Year 11 and 12 students, while our Year 11 STTC students continued gaining valuable workplace experience. On Tuesday, we enjoyed welcoming back members of the Class of 2025 for the Yearbook Afternoon Tea. Wednesday saw our Year 9 French students visit Maison Saint Honoré as part of their language studies, while parents attended the Year 3 Camp Information Night in preparation for this exciting upcoming experience. Hills Raiders WABL Training continued on Thursday, and today our Junior School students are representing the College at the WACSSA Netball competition. This evening, our Year 10 students will enjoy a Movie Night together as they conclude a significant week of examinations and activities.
Looking ahead, next week offers a variety of opportunities for students to showcase their talents, represent the College in sport, and connect with our wider community. From the Senior School Creative Lab Exhibition and College Tour to sporting carnivals, music performances, and mission trip preparations, there will be many opportunities for students to engage beyond the classroom. We also look forward to gathering as a community at Friday’s Family Breakfast before another week of learning concludes.

Next Wednesday 10 June, Swan Christian College is delighted to host the SCEA Collective Choir Day, welcoming between 230 and 260 students from five SCEA schools: Swan Christian College, Northshore Christian Grammar School, Mundaring Christian College, Southern Hills Christian College, and Ellenbrook Christian College.
The event is a celebration of faith, fellowship and musical excellence, bringing together Junior School and Senior School choir students from across the association. Throughout the day, students will participate in workshops, rehearsals and collaborative performances, providing opportunities to develop their musical skills, learn from one another, and build connections with fellow young musicians.
A highlight of the day will be a special workshop led by guest presenter Andrea “Drea” Onamade from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Students will benefit from Drea’s experience and encouragement as they continue to grow as performers and musicians.
The day will culminate in a collective choir performance, showcasing the talents of students from across the SCEA community.

Join us for a seven-week online marriage course for the Swan Christian College community, in partnership with Nations Church Belmont. Parents, staff and our Swan Christian College community are warmly invited to The Marriage Course.
The Marriage Course (created by Alpha International) is a 7-week online course designed to help married couples build strong foundations, improve communication, and grow closer. Each session gives you dedicated space to invest in your relationship in a relaxed, supportive setting.
The course will run Tuesday evenings from 4 August to 15 September online, 7:00pm-9:00pm, and will be facilitated by experienced and trained couples including senior pastors of Nations Church Belmont, Gareth and Jess Forsdike. The cost is $60 per couple and includes a journal for each participant.

This combined reunion marks the 40, 30, 20 and 10 year milestones for these graduating classes. It will be a relaxed sundowner where alumni can catch up, share stories and reflect on their time at the College.

We were delighted to welcome educators from Cervantes Primary School to our Junior School this term to observe Talk for Reading in action.
Now in our fourth year of implementation, our staff have grown in confidence and expertise, and it has been wonderful to see the positive impact this approach is having on student learning. It was a privilege to share our practice and learning journey with fellow educators passionate about literacy instruction.
We were also grateful to have Nicole McCann from DSF supporting our staff throughout the day and sharing valuable insights with the Cervantes team.
At Swan, we value opportunities to learn and grow together. We are thankful for the ways God blesses our community and for opportunities to use those blessings to encourage and support others in the wider education community.
Audiences will enjoy performances from the MS/JS Drum Corps, Avanti Choir, Year 4 String Ensemble, Piccolo Choir, JS Guitar Ensemble, and the Year 5/6 String Ensemble. We look forward to celebrating the talents of our students and the joy of making music together.

On Tuesday, we welcomed back members of the Class of 2025 for a special Yearbook Afternoon Tea as they returned to collect their yearbooks and reconnect with the College community.
The afternoon provided a wonderful opportunity for graduates to catch up with former classmates and teachers.
It was encouraging to see so many familiar faces back on campus.
We wish our graduates every blessing as they continue the next chapter of their lives and look forward to hearing about their future achievements.

If you have a child in Year 10, this is a reminder for next week’s Work Experience placement. As they commence their Work Experience placement next week, we would appreciate your support in ensuring they are fully prepared for this exciting and valuable opportunity.
Please note that Work Experience is a compulsory component of the Year 10 program. During the placement period, students will not be attending regular classes and are expected to attend their placement each day.

Work Experience is an exciting opportunity for students to step into the world of work, develop new skills, explore potential career pathways, and gain firsthand insight into industries that interest them. It is often a memorable and rewarding experience that helps students build confidence while making connections with professionals in their chosen field.
We also encourage students to remember that they are representing both themselves and the College throughout their placement. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and professional conduct can leave a lasting impression and may lead to valuable references, future employment opportunities, and informed decisions regarding upcoming subject selections for next year.
