2020 Celebration and Awards Day

Swan Christian College Celebration Awards Day 2020 | Year 7-11

“Come on, everyone! Let’s sing for joy to the Lord!
Let’s shout our loudest praises to our God who saved us!
Everyone come meet his face with a thankful heart.
Don’t hold back your praises;
make him great by your shouts of joy!”

Psalm 95: 1-2

We have so much to be thankful for and to praise God for. We are so grateful to God for the many blessings he has given us here at Swan this year, and we thank and praise him for those blessings.

It’s an interesting year that we have all been through, and I don’t think we are through it quite yet. While it is important to acknowledge that our teaching and learning (and probably even our parenting) has been disrupted this year, we do need to reflect on the year that has been and acknowledge our students' achievements despite the disruptions.

I would like to thank you, the parents, for your support and your flexibility as we worked through the difficulties of this year. We felt like we were part of one team. The many expressions of thanks and gratitude that we have received from you throughout this time were so valuable and so appreciated.

I would like to acknowledge the Swan Outreach program which a lot of you have contributed to and you have shown great willingness to embrace and support this initiative. Thank you to the College Parent Committee who meet with me regularly and who help me gain an insight into the College community from a parent’s point of view.

It is important to acknowledge the staff who had to work really hard to develop a new learning strategy this year. They have had an increased workload because they have often been looking after students working from home as well as those learning at school. Our staff are dedicated and they go above and beyond. This year, they have constantly been living with the awareness that they need to be ready for that moment that might happen at any time during this pandemic when we might have to go back to Learning@Home.

Congratulations to all the student achievers this year and congratulations to you as parents. It takes more than one person – or as the old saying goes – it takes a whole village to raise a child. I wish you all the blessing and peace for Christmas and the holidays.

As you browse through the videos below and enjoy watching them as a family, may I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the year that has been. Let's give thanks for the moments that we have shared, the things we have learned and the people who have been a blessing to our families this year.

May God bless you all.
