2018 Academic Results

From the Principal

Swan Christian College is celebrating the outstanding academic success of its students in 2018. I would like to congratulate students on their academic achievements and excellent conduct throughout the 2018 school year.

As a leading coeducational school in Perth’s eastern suburbs, the College is delighted by the achievements of our Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) students and those who gained nationally recognised qualifications under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Some of the individual successes included College Dux Kaila Minotti achieving an ATAR of 99.25, Tahlia Mellor who achieved an ATAR of 98.4 and Gracie Butler who achieved an ATAR of 98.1. Both Kaila (Politics and Law) and Tahlia (Literature) received Certificates of Excellence which are awarded to students who rank in the top 0.5% in the state in a specific course.

In 2018 the median ATAR was 79.05, with 14 students being inducted into the Excelsior Club having achieved a minimum ATAR of 90. Three students received a Certificate of Distinction which requires students to achieve A grades across their courses and/or certificates, a testament to their commitment to their studies. In addition, 18 students received a Certificate of Merit. 72% of students who applied for university entry received an offer for their first preference compared to the state average of 68%.

Congratulations must also go to our Vocational Education and Training (VET) and General students who successfully completed so many courses and Certificates II and III.

We acknowledge and thank the teachers who delivered eight High Performing Courses in 2018. This is an excellent achievement and the result of much hard work by both teachers and students.

Once again Swan Christian College’s WACE achievement was higher than the state average at 98.32%, ranking the College among the top 50 schools in the state. The College’s graduates received a total of 225 AQF qualifications with many students achieving multiple qualifications.
