Dear Parent/Guardian

This final week of Term 2 has been filled with rich experiences and memorable moments across the College. Our Emergency Cadets embraced the outdoors on a mountain biking camp last weekend, while the Fenceline Theatre Company presented Making Robin Hood, featuring a talented alumni cast. On Tuesday, Junior School students engaged with important safety messages during the Constable Care Incursion. Some of our Senior School students are currently serving in Cambodia on a mission trip with RAW Impact, with our Principal set to join them this weekend. Our Year 6 students have been making lasting memories during their camp in Canberra and Sydney, returning home this Saturday after a week of exploration and learning. Today marked the start of filming for Borrowed Song, a short film project under the Film Futures Initiative, featuring our students and led by acclaimed director Martin Wilson.

As we close out the term, we wish all families a restful and refreshing holiday. Semester 2 commences on 22 July, with highlights including the Interhouse Performing Arts Performance on 24 July, NAIDOC Day on 25 July, the Junior School Cross Country Carnival on 30 July, and the Senior School House Athletics Carnival on 6 August.

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you."

NAIDOC Celebration Day 2025

We are excited to again be hosting a NAIDOC Celebration Day in the Junior School as part of the College’s NAIDOC events in week 1 in Term 3. Our focus day for students in Kindergarten to Year 6 students will be on Friday 25 July.

This will be a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements, and an opportunity to recognise the contributions that Indigenous Australians make to our country and society. Throughout the day students will spend time engaging in various activities as well as sharing in a NAIDOC Assembly for Pre Primary to Year 12 students. Due to space limitations, this Assembly is for staff and students only.

On Friday 25 July, students are encouraged to wear their College sport shorts/pants, closed-in shoes with a plain-coloured T-shirt that recognises the Indigenous colours of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags.

Year 6 Sydney-Canberra Camp

On Thursday morning we packed up in a cool -5 degrees, jumped onto the busses (and the warmth), and made our way to Sydney!

We made our way to Sydney Harbour Bridge and explored the Pylon Museum and the amazing views it provides.  We then walked to our accommodation and settled in for the night, with the food being a big winner to some very hungry children.

Only 2 days left until we head home to our loved ones.

Cambodia Day 2025

Junior School students can look forward to an exciting and purposeful Cambodia Day on Friday 26 September in Term 3, with the Colour Fun Run as the centrepiece of the event.

This annual day is a key opportunity for the College community to come together in support of RAW Impact (Raise Awareness Worldwide), a Christian organisation working to create sustainable change through hands-on projects in Cambodia and Australia.

In the lead-up to the day, students will seek online sponsorship for their participation in the Colour Fun Run. All funds raised will go directly to support RAW Impact’s ongoing work in Cambodian communities. A fundraising link will be provided early in Term 3.

Families are also invited to contribute to the event by donating preloved toys, books and games for the Bring and Buy Stall.

Cambodia Colour Fun Day is a valuable opportunity for students to engage with service learning in a tangible and meaningful way—celebrating generosity, community, and fun while helping others in need.

Celebrating Academic Success in Years 7-12

We are pleased to share a summary of our recent academic results for students in Years 7 to 12.

The students in the photo are some of our top academic achievers across Senior School scoring an average of 80% or above across their subjects. From left to right (top row): Alexander M, Zachary C, Elle P. From left to right (bottom row): Amy V, Shemaiah T, Jeremy M.

For Years 7 to 9, we set a benchmark of a 60% average across all subjects. It is encouraging that 69% of students reached or exceeded this target. Most of these students scored between 60% and 80%, showing consistent effort and steady progress.

In Years 10 to 12, 61% of students met the same 60% benchmark. Like the younger years, the majority scored between 60% and 80%, which shows a solid level of achievement across the group.

We continue to focus on helping students grow in their learning and strive for excellence in all areas.

Cambodia Mission Trip

Our Senior School Cambodia Mission Trip team arrived safely on Tuesday 25 June after a long journey from Perth. The team was excited (and a little exhausted) as they stepped into the warm, humid air of Phnom Penh, ready to begin this life-changing experience.

Day 2 was Culture Day, where students visited historical sites including the Killing Fields and S-21 prison. These confronting but important visits helped our students better understand Cambodia’s past and gave perspective to the privilege of our lives back home. The team also met with RAW Impact, the organisation we’re partnering with, and completed a street navigation challenge across Phnom Penh, learning to cross roads, read signs, and experience the local markets.

On Day 3, students travelled to Every Piece Matters (EPM) village, where they began hands-on building projects including a playground with a climbing wall, fireman pole, and rope bridge. Students worked with tools, shared joyful moments with local children, and received meals lovingly prepared by the village. Despite the heat, spirits remained high.

Each day ends with time for reflection and devotion, and we are reminded of the privilege it is to serve and learn from this vibrant community. Principal Darnelle Pretorius will be flying over this weekend to join them for the remainder of the trip.

Please continue to uphold the team in prayer as they work to bring practical help and encouragement to the people of Cambodia.
