Welcome to the Swan Trade Training Centre

The simple fact of life is that the ‘traditional’ school model does not necessarily suit all students.

The Swan Trade Training Centre (STTC) is a sub school of Swan Christian College and provides quality trade and hospitality training in an innovative and supportive school-based environment.

WACE courses are delivered by highly qualified and experienced trade and hospitality trainers in ways that connect students with their chosen trades thereby increasing relevance and engagement.

About The STTC

The purpose-built Swan Trade Training Centre opened in 2012 on the Swan Christian College campus.

We provide quality trade and hospitality training and career pathways in an innovative and supportive school-based environment.

Objective

“Learn a Trade, Build a Character”

Swan Trade Training Centre (or STTC) aims to produce confident, well-rounded students who become ‘top class’ apprentices equipped with industry grade skills and professionalism, and pride themselves on a job well done.

Industry Relevant Courses

All courses are developed with industry input that ensures the training offered is current and relevant.

The Swan Trade Training Centre offers a fixed two-year pre-apprenticeship course over Years 11 and 12 allowing students to graduate with their WACE.

In addition to their chosen pre-apprenticeship course, all Swan Trade Training Centre students complete a fixed set of courses that are designed to complement their trade studies with content specifically tailored for the trade context.

All students complete units in Mathematics, English, Certificate III in Business, Design Graphics, Work Experience, Christian Living, Physical Education and a Certificate II Pre-apprenticeship in their chosen trade course inclusive of work experience.

Support and Wellbeing

The Swan Trade Training Centre is part of Swan Christian College so students benefit from a supportive environment with all-encompassing pastoral care, wellbeing and extracurricular programs.

At the Swan Trade Training Centre character is as important as curriculum and our hope for our students is that they will RISE, Shine and Flourish in all that they do and desire to do.

Our Living Well program develops resilience, confidence and life skills. Students are equipped to become independent thinkers, make informed decisions and take responsibility for their own actions.

Swan Trade Training Centre staff are highly qualified trade trainers with industry experience. They support students with mentoring, career advice, business insights and skills to assist with employment.

TEACHING FROM EXPERIENCE

Our passionate teachers are highly qualified and experienced trade and hospitality trainers with many years of professional industry experience in their area of expertise. They share a desire to make a difference and help students learn in the ways that work best for them.

Their innovative pedagogy makes optimal use of our facilities and they care deeply about each individual student.

Our staff form an integral part of the authentic work environment that students will experience at the Swan Trade Training Centre.
