Welcome to Swanmissions
Since 2002 Swanmissions has been an integral part of Swan Christian College. Over ten Impact Trips to Thailand, Cambodia and Zambia have been conducted, giving more than 150 students the opportunity to witness poverty firsthand.
About Swanmissions
Swanmissions gives traction to the Christian message of love and redemption through providing opportunities to address the needs of the poor in practical ways. The vision of Swan Christian College is to encourage, educate and equip students for lives of faithful service under the Lordship of Christ.
Over the past 11 years Swanmissions has provided a platform where this vision can be fulfilled. Our involvement in a wide variety of mission activities both locally and abroad allow students the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the needs in our world and how they are being addressed.
Through establishing strong relationships with organisations such as World Vision, YWAM, Hagar International, Mission Australia, Salvation Army, Awareness Cambodia and Immanuel Mercy Ministries in Zambia, Swan Missions is partnering with them to provide much needed funds and ministry opportunities.
Impact trips for students to Thailand, Cambodia and Zambia have given hundreds of our students first hand experience of the plights over the world’s poorest people. This has led to helping practically, with the building of a computer lab in an orphanage in Cambodia to establishing a school and feeding program for vulnerable children in Zambia.
Swanmissions also seeks to make an impact on a local level through providing service opportunities in Perth. The establishment of the student’s Social Justice Action Group and Super Soupers allow students to meet regularly at lunchtimes to plan and implement strategies to help those struggling in our city. These needs are addressed through our monthly soup cook up for the homeless, Winter Sleepout, Urban Mission Camp and Community Service Days.
Fundraising events occur throughout the year and help to support the various projects. These include: Cambodia Fun Day, Cycle 4 Change, Arts for Africa, Push Ups for Poverty, Buy a Brick, 40 Hour Famine, Live Below the Line, and PC child sponsorship.
Swan Missions seeks to involve the whole community of Swan Christian College with the goal of everyone gaining a greater heart and empathy for those struggling in our world. With God’s help our endeavour is to reach out with a helping hand and the message of God’s redeeming love.
