During Term 1, our Pre Primary and Year 1 students have been participating in engaging movement programs designed to build confidence and develop fundamental physical skills.

In Weeks 5 and 7, Gecko Sports will be running a gymnastics program for our Pre Primary classes. These sessions will take place on Wednesdays and will introduce students to basic gymnastics movements in a fun and supportive environment.

Our Year 1 students also took part in the Freo Fundamentals program during Weeks 4 and 5. This program focused on developing fundamental movement skills that support children’s physical development and participation in sport.

The Freo Fundamentals program runs over four sessions during Term 1 for Pre Primary and Year 1 students, with a maximum of four classes per school. During the first three sessions, students from the University of Notre Dame delivered a 30-minute fundamental movement session at the College, aligned with curriculum framework outcomes and delivered across three consecutive weeks.

These programs provide valuable opportunities for our youngest students to develop coordination, balance and confidence while enjoying active learning experiences.
