On Wednesday 23 October, Year 6 student Jorja attended a ceremony at the Constitutional Centre of WA to receive the Fred Hollows Humanitarian Award.

The annual Fred Hollows Award recognises Year 6 students who follow in Fred’s footsteps by making a positive difference in their community. It celebrates students who show compassion, integrity and kindness in their everyday lives, just as Fred did. The nomination was awarded to Jorja because:

Jorja is an exemplary student who consistently shows good manners, respect for others and shows integrity at school. Her caring heart and strong morals enable her to make clear decisions. Jorja is regularly seen helping and including others and speaks up when she knows something is not right. She is a natural leader and role model for students in her class and within her school.

Jorja’s parents David and Jayne, along with her class teacher Mrs Daina Trew, attended the afternoon ceremony where Jorja received her award. Well done Jorja.
