With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in Western Australia, the College wellbeing team - which consists of the College psychologists, Chaplains, Deputy Head of Middle School, Deans of Year and Mentor Teachers - are busy finalising arrangements for the Semester 2 wellbeing activities.
For example, our Year 12 students are holding the Annual Year 12 Luncheon at C Restaurant and eateries around Elizabeth Quay on Friday. Other upcoming events include a Year 10 Alumni Lunch, Year 9 Nanga Camp, Year 12 City Camp, Year 9 Sons and Daughters dinner and a Year 8 Challenge Day.
The aim of our Living Well wellbeing program is to encourage mindfulness, exercise, and other stress busting strategies. We partner with parents and caregivers by providing additional mental health resources and information for them to access as we work together to help our children navigate the rapidly changing social fabric and the stresses of teenage years.
Our students are benefitting from weekly facilitated workshops which are aligned to their year group theme:
Year 7 Awe and Wonder
Year 8 Growth
Year 9 Story and Challenge
Year 10 Vision
Year 11 Leadership and Community
Year 12 Gratitude and Legacy
One resource available through our website that I would like to recommend to you is SchoolTV. As parents and guardians, it is sometimes difficult to access quality information in a timely manner. SchoolTV addresses major issues that affect teenagers and provides interviews with subject experts, fact sheets, parent quizzes, recommended apps, books and much more. SchoolTV gathers information from organisations such as Beyond Blue and Reach Out among others.
Another resource that parents and guardians may wish to consider is Family Zone. Family Zone is a monitoring app that, when installed on a child’s device, will alert parents of risky or inappropriate activity and allow them to locate their child’s device. Further information is available through SEQTA Engage.
Students have the opportunity to work alongside our Christian Union Captains and Chaplains as they grow spirituality in our community.
The Swan Fitness Centre offers a range of activities such as recovery, circuits, rolling, Pilates, and strength and conditioning.
I would like to take the opportunity to wish our students, staff and parents fortunate enough to have leave, a safe and restful holiday and we look forward to welcoming you all back on Tuesday 28 July.
