A Morning with Music and Song

The College invited senior citizens to come visit the College and enjoy a morning of choir music.

Residents of Regis Aged Care were bussed to Swan Christian College and the invitation was sent out to Grandparents of our Junior School Choir members. In total, about twenty people braved what was a really wet and stormy morning to listen to the College’s choirs present their pieces.

The morning started with the JS Jazz Vocal Ensemble singing a number from Annie, complete with sparkly hats and all. This was followed by our most senior singers “Spiritos” performing a number of songs including a Romanian Hymn and English Folk Song. Our JS Avanti Choir sang Light the Candle of Peace and finished their set with When I Grow Up from the new musical Matilda. “Swan Song” performed Oceans and Hopeful which included some rapping by our Middle School students and the concert was finished by “The Crew” who sang My Light House and What a Wonderful World.

After the concert, morning tea was served and a number of students stayed to chat to the concert attendees and to assist with serving food and drinks. All who attended enjoyed the morning despite the weather and stayed on to chat with our students.

A big thanks to those teachers who were involved in preparing students – Mr William Vasui and Mr Karl Dietrich who led the choirs and thanks also to Ray Hockley for liaising with the Regis Aged Care facility.
