On the first weekend in November, 16 teams from Swan Christian College took part in the biggest adventure race weekend in the world, in the wilds of the South-West.

The Augusta Adventure Race is a non-stop adventure race incorporating four disciplines into the one event through the wilderness. It included a 1km swim in the ocean, 6.6km coastal run, 15km mountain bike ride and a 6km inlet paddle. The sunny days and light breezes over the weekend provided the perfect conditions for adventure racing, with the camaraderie and team work shown by all our teams a great advertisement for the College.

We had six teams finish on the podium in the various categories on the Sunday. First in the Adventure Race was a male team from Swan consisting of Gregor Law, Pearce Brezmen, Sam Rushton and Ethan Andersson in a time of 1:57.47; all stoked to win the teams race especially since they were all under the age of 18yrs. We also had two staff teams competing on the day with one of the teams winning the mixed category.

This was my second trip to Augusta with the school and I was once again impressed with the great attitude and camaraderie shown by all the students involved and the magnanimity shown by the teachers. A big thanks to Mr Ben Dallin for the hard work put into making this great experience possible.

To those students who would like to test themselves in God’s beautiful outdoors: this event should be included on your calendar in 2019.
