Students are encouraged to join one of the College’s choirs and music ensembles.

Swan Christian College has a number of Music Groups that rehearse on a weekly basis and that give students an excellent opportunity to master playing an instrument. The groups take part in various performances throughout the year.

Choirs
All students are welcome to join the appropriate choir for them – come and talk to any of the music staff to find out which choir is the one for you!

Concert Band
Students who play either woodwind, brass or percussion instruments are encouraged to join the concert band. Rehearsals are Tuesday after school until 4:30pm. Mr Raymond is directing this group. Concert bands play all styles of music from the latest hits to marches and everything in between.

Jazz Band
This group is for advanced musicians and is directed by Mr Dallon on Thursday afternoons. Students are encouraged to speak to Mr Dallon or Mr Raymond if they are interested in playing in this group.

String ensemble
We have a string group for students who have been playing for more than 2 years. This group currently meets before school on Tuesday mornings with Mr Napier. Mr Raymond is the right person to talk to for more information about this group.

Like anything in life – if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well! This means that as well as having lots of fun playing music, we are striving to raise the standard of our performances and make them sound excellent.

Students who have committed to a group are expected to be on time and to be reliable. If for any reason students cannot make a rehearsal, they should please let the director of that ensemble know well before the rehearsal is due to start.

Most of the school ensembles will be involved in our upcoming Spring Fever concert during Arts Showcase week (Week 8) – more details coming soon!
