On 21-24 April 2016, ten students from Swan Christian College and their horses competed in the Interschool Equestrian Championships at the State Equestrian Centre in Brigadoon. This annual event is one of the biggest events on the Equestrian WA calendar and has over 300 students and horses participating. It consists of four action packed days of dressage, jumping, show horse and vaulting.
Each student put in considerable hours each week, training, coaching and learning to present themselves and their horses to a very high standard. This is made possible by the loving support of each family. It is a year long commitment that has to be scheduled around their school work, in all weather conditions, with early mornings and late nights as they take responsibility for the welfare of their horse.
It takes great trust and understanding to develop a partnership with their horse to compete at this level.
