Friday night’s Sleepout for the Homeless was a lesson in empathy for the 40 students from Year 5 to 12 who braved the cold on the back oval of the College.
The students really had a lot of fun, playing team games and toasting marshmallows. They were also enlightened from participating in a workshop presented by Darren Reynold, the Schools Engagement Manager from the Salvation Army.
As well as providing a large box of canned food for Darren to take, the students also raised over $900 which will go towards enabling our Year 12 students to participate in the Salvation Army Morning Breakfast outreach.
The 2019 Sleepout for the Homeless was a memorable night for all, who, despite the cold, were encouraged that they could make such a difference to those living rough on the streets of our city.
