Our Year 5 and 6 students engaged in a range of activities to celebrate ANZAC Day this year.

The activities that the students engaged in were:

  • Parachutes – to represent the soldiers that jumped out of the Airplane with parachutes on.
  • ANZAC cookies – which is a traditional way of celebrating ANZAC Day with food.
  • Poppies – as people usually think of poppies when they think of ANZAC Day, we made some out of paper and pipe-cleaners.
  • ANZAC landscape – a group of girls from Year 5 and 6 joined together, whilst socially distancing, to make a beautiful landscape to remember Flanders fields and the people that fought for us and for Australia.

“Today we watched a very important message about what ANZAC Day means, and how much it really means to have had those brave men and women fight for our country, Australia. During the message, we experienced some short clips of what it would have looked like at war, and I realised how lucky and thankful we should be for all those amazing people. We also received some amazing messages from our high school students that talked about what ANZAC Day really means for them and our school.”

– Iske H (Year 6)
