Junior School Explores the Meaning of Home in National Storytime

Last week on 21 May, selected Junior School classes took part in National Simultaneous Storytime, a nationwide event that promotes reading and literacy for young children. Across Australia, children participated in the storytime event around 10:00am WAST.

This year’s book was The Truck Cat by Deborah Frenkel and Danny Snell, a story about Tinka the cat and his friend Yacoub as they travel across Australia in a truck. The book explores themes of belonging, friendship and finding home.

As part of the experience, our Year 1B class talked about what home feels like (safe, loved, belonging). They spent some time drawing their homes, showing the personal meaning of home through their eyes.
