On 18 February, Mayor Tanya Richardson visited our Year 4 classrooms and gave the students a lesson about local government. Having Mayor Richardson from the City of Swan visit our Year 4 students was a fantastic opportunity to deepen their understanding of local government and its vital role in the community. She engaged the students by explaining her responsibilities as both the mayor and a councillor, highlighting how decisions are made to benefit residents. The students were particularly interested in learning about the various services the City of Swan provides, including libraries, parks, waste management, and community events that bring people together. Mayor Richardson also shared insights into exciting local events and places that make our city a great place to live. Her visit was an inspiring and informative experience, helping students appreciate the importance of civic leadership and their own potential role in shaping their community.
