From 10 December 2025, new Australian laws will restrict access to social media for those under the age of 16. This change reflects growing community concern about the impact of early social media use on children’s mental health and wellbeing.

While these regulations are a positive step towards online safety, real protection begins at home. Families play a key role in helping children build confidence, resilience and awareness in the digital world.  These changes present a valuable opportunity for parents to discuss online experiences with their children, review family technology habits, and reinforce healthy digital routines.
