On Friday, 7 November, the College hosted a special screening and awards lunch to celebrate the culmination of the Inaugural Screen Pathways Initiative, a creative partnership that brought together Swan Christian College students, Murdoch University mentors and industry professionals.
The initiative centred on the production of a short film titled The Borrowed Song, showcasing the creative talents of our students both in front of and behind the camera. The event marked the final stage of the Borrowed Song Editing Competition, highlighting the exceptional editing work of Callum P. (Year 12) and Joshua J. (Year 11), the two student finalists.
Under the guidance of Dr Owen Beck and Mentor Director Martin Wilson, Callum and Joshua each produced their own edited version of the film, which were screened before an audience of approximately 250 students. The film’s leading actors – Zoe V., Oliver N. and Josephine P. – added to the excitement with a live music performance that entertained the crowd.
A panel of ten VIP judges, all industry experts, selected the winners. Thanks to the generous support of Midland Camera House and Sony, Callum received a $5,000 camera package, while Joshua was awarded a Da Vinci Resolve Speed Editor and professional editing software.
