The Screen Pathways Initiative of The Borrowed Song is a unique short film project bringing together industry filmmakers, university graduates, and Swan Christian College students and staff in a multi-tiered mentoring experience.

Swan Christian College students not only performed the music, but also wrote, acted, and contributed creatively to the film.

Over the coming months, students will compete to edit, colour grade, and complete post-production audio using the recently filmed footage. Guided by our Media Teacher, Dr Owen Beck, they will receive hands-on coaching as they bring their own versions of the film to life.

Opportunities for participants

  • Win prizes, including a $5,000 camera from Midland Camera House (with multiple prizes on offer)
  • Enter edited films into festivals
  • Gain real-world industry experience and mentoring

This initiative highlights the power of collaboration between education and industry, equipping students with the tools and pathways to thrive in the screen and creative arts.
