A phenomenal total of $6147.57 was raised at our Fire Appeal fundraiser which will be donated to the Swan Community Outreach program to pass on to our families in need!

With many of our College families recently affected by the Wooroloo Bushfires, the Swan Christian College community jumped into action; finding a way to assist those touched by the bushfire tragedy.

On Thursday 25 February, our Year 12 Student Leaders organised the Swan Christian College Fire Appeal to raise funds to support families dealing with the loss and upheaval caused by the fires. All students from the Junior and Senior School were encouraged to wear free dress to show their support, donate if they could and buy a sausage sizzle to raise funds from our Swan families.

“The fundraiser presented an opportunity for the student leaders to make a difference for those affected by the bushfires in our community, and a sausage sizzle was something we knew that our peers could get behind and show their support,” Service Captain Tamsin Collins said.

The Fire Appeal proved a great display of Swan Christian College community spirit and brought students, staff, parents and members of the Swan Community Outreach program together to serve our community.

“It was important to everyone because we all knew someone who had been impacted so it was nice to be able to do something for them. I was extremely fortunate to be part of the student leadership team who spent the day raising funds by holding a sausage sizzle,” Deputy Head Boy Thomas Hurst said.

Mrs Susan Luce, Chair of the College Parent Committee, said that the fire appeal has provided much-needed funds to support Swan families affected by the bushfire.

I was thrilled when I learned about the support and generosity on display by the students and staff at Swan Christian College. The funds raised will be used where they are needed most, supporting the efforts of our Swan Community Outreach program to help our families in need,” Mrs Luce said.

Thank you to everyone who made a donation or assisted in the running of the day; for your generosity and service to our families affected by the fires. I would also like to acknowledge the determined efforts of the Year 12 Leaders who worked tirelessly on the day.
