It has been a very busy start to the year for our Year 12 students. We had the pleasure of celebrating at their charity ball before the year even officially commenced. Our Charity Ball donation this time went to Zero2Hero, a local charity that many of our students already work with outside of school.

This WA based charity is focused on increasing understanding of mental health issues in children and young people.

In this, their final year at Swan, we are trying to help our students become ‘future ready’ and focus on gratitude and legacy. The National University of Singapore published a study on the skills that our students need to be ready to make the most of their lives after school. This report discusses the need for: resilience, curiosity, adaptability, insight, empathy, entrepreneurial thinking, problem solving and vision.

Ms Crystal Lim, Director of NUS CFG, added, “Awareness of these preferred soft skills will enable students to bring more value to recruitment interviews and to the employer, as well as to thrive in their future careers.” Whilst these are not easy skills to teach, we have had fun goal setting and we are looking forward to watching their successes with changing tyres and assembling furniture among other things.
