This week has been one of meaningful connection, celebration, and community spirit across the College. We began with the Annual College Meeting on Monday evening – it was great to see some parents in attendance to hear more about what’s happening at Swan Christian College and our direction for the future. On Tuesday morning, we welcomed local church leaders for our Local Pastors Morning Tea. That evening, Kindergarten families attended the Speech Parent Information Night, while our Senior School girls represented the College in the AFL competition at St Brigid’s.
Wednesday brought great excitement and generosity as several teachers and our Principal, Dr Darnelle Pretorius, bravely took on the Ice Bucket Challenge in support of youth mental health. Students wore blue for Free Dress Day and helped raise over $3,100 for Beyond Blue. On Thursday, we welcomed around 200 visitors for a College Tour of both our Junior and Senior School campuses, while our Year 4s enjoyed their first overnight camp. This morning, many families gathered for our Family Breakfast, and we celebrated student achievement at the Senior School Stars and Colours Assembly. Junior School students also began their before-school Cross Country Training today.
Looking ahead, please pray for our Year 12 students who will commence their exams next week. On Tuesday, selected Senior School students will represent the College at the Sport WA Netball Carnival and the NEAS Netball and Soccer Carnival. On Wednesday, our Emergency Cadets will test their skills rock climbing, and selected Junior School students will compete in the WACSSA Soccer Carnival.
Year 10 families whose sons or daughters are interested in a trade career are also encouraged to register for the upcoming Try a Trade event on 4 June via this link.
"The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him."
Thank you to all parents and guardians who joined us for the Annual College Meeting on Monday evening, 19 May at 6:00pm. It was a valuable evening to hear updates from our Executive Team and the Parent Christian Life Committee.
If you were unable to attend, the full recording is now available to watch online. The meeting covered:
The 2026–2030 Strategic Plan
Teaching and learning updates across the College
Mobile phone use and student behaviour
College facility improvements.
We encourage all families who were not able to be there to watch the replay here: Watch the video.
Last Saturday evening, the Gym at Swan Christian College was alive with music, movement and community spirit as families from across the Junior and Senior Schools gathered for the College’s much-anticipated Community Bushdance.
Led by the energetic Cherry Steppers, everyone was on their feet enjoying an evening of laughter, dancing and good old-fashioned fun. With professional guidance from the modern line dancing group, even first-time dancers were confidently stepping in time by the end of the night.
Families brought along picnic dinners, chairs and rugs, while coffee and ice cream vans kept everyone refreshed throughout the event. From cowboy hats to boots and checked shirts, the bushdance-themed attire added a splash of colour and flair to the festive indoor atmosphere.
It was a joy to see so many in our community come together for an event that celebrated connection, fun and fellowship.
Don’t miss this laugh-out-loud comedy suitable for the whole family! Making Robin Hood is a clever and chaotic play directed by Jane Hille, featuring Swan Christian College alumni.
Set around a group of actors preparing for a medieval theatre festival, the play follows their attempt to rework the legendary Robin Hood tale with a hilarious twist – a feminist version of the classic story performed mostly by men. Add in a dragon, a confused storyline, and a director’s assistant who insists she’s a star, and you’ve got a recipe for comedy gold.

All students from Pre Primary to Year 6 will have the opportunity to take part in this fun and active day. Further details, including event times and what students will need to bring, will be shared with families as the date approaches.
We look forward to seeing our students give their best and enjoy the spirit of friendly competition.
Last Friday, our Year 3 students took to the stage for a themed assembly attended by students from Years 1 to 3. Dressed as sea creatures, they shared a fun and engaging presentation that highlighted their learning in a creative way.
The colourful costumes and confident performances made for an enjoyable morning, and it was great to see so many students participating with enthusiasm. Thank you to the teachers who helped prepare the students and supported them on the day.
On Wednesday 21 May, the Senior School community came together for a fun and meaningful lunchtime event to raise funds for Beyond Blue. Students were invited to wear blue and bring a gold coin donation to show their support for mental health awareness—and they certainly delivered.
Thanks to the generosity of our students, staff and families, the College raised over $3,100 for Beyond Blue.
A highlight of the day was the Ice Bucket Challenge, where nominated staff members braved a soaking in support of the cause. For every dollar donated, five ice blocks were added to a chosen teacher’s bucket. The crowd enjoyed seeing staff like Dr Darnelle Pretorius, Ms Hille, Mr Harris, Mr Lubbe, Mr Gillies and others take the icy plunge—all in good fun for a great cause.
We are proud of our Senior School students for getting behind this initiative and showing compassion and community spirit.
