This week marked the start of Term 3, and despite the chilly Perth mornings – with temperatures dropping to around 3°C today – it has been wonderful to welcome students and families back to the College. On Tuesday, students in Years 1 to 12 gathered for a warm and enthusiastic Welcome Assembly. Yesterday, the Senior School came together for the Interhouse Performing Arts Performance, where Mungulu impressed with their Jungle Book presentation and took out first place. Today, both Junior and Senior Schools paused to reflect during our NAIDOC Day Assembly, while Junior School classrooms were filled with activities celebrating Indigenous culture and history. Selected students from Years 4 to 6 also represented the College at the SDNA Netball Carnival.
Next week, we look forward to the Parents in Partnership Morning Tea on Monday. On Wednesday 30 July, Years 1 to 6 students will compete in the Cross Country Carnival, while Year 10 boys will head out for the ACC AFL Lightning Carnival. On Thursday evening, there will be a Year 5 Camp Parent Meeting. A reminder that Friday 1 August is both the State and Federal Census Day. Please ensure your child is present at school on time or, if they are a Swanonline student, logged into Canvas. If your child is unable to attend due to illness, please notify Student Services before 9:00am.
"But those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles."
Friday 1 August 2025 is the Federal Government School Census Day.
Schools in Western Australia work through two Census Days each year – State Census in February and the combined State and Federal Census in August.
Census enables the government to learn more about Australian schools. The data collected helps determine funding for schools and supports the development of informed and tailored education policies.
It is important that all students are at school on Friday 1 August for the Census. Swanonline students must be logged into Canvas at the start of the school day to be recorded as present.
If your child is unable to attend due to illness, the College must be notified in writing, as all absences on the day need to be verified for Census reporting.
Please email Student Services at studentservices@swan.wa.edu.au by 9:00am on Friday 1 August if your child will be absent.
Thank you for your continued support and for ensuring that your child is present on this important day.
Over the coming weeks, students and parents will be invited to participate in several surveys designed to support student wellbeing and strengthen community engagement.
In Week 3, students from both the Junior and Senior Schools will complete the Wellbeing and Engagement Census during class time. This WA Government survey gives students in Years 4 to 12 the opportunity to share their experiences and perspectives on wellbeing and engagement at school. Topics include social and emotional wellbeing, school relationships, learning, physical health, and after-school activities. All responses are confidential and will not be used to identify individual students.
Also in Week 3, parents will receive an invitation to complete the SCEA Community Engagement Survey. Your feedback is highly valued and helps us better understand and respond to the needs of our families.
Below is a summary of the upcoming surveys:
Week | Survey Name | Who It’s For |
---|---|---|
3 | Wellbeing and Engagement Census | Students (Years 4–12) |
3 | SCEA Community Engagement Survey | Parents |
4 | SCEA Community Engagement Survey | Senior School Students |
5 | SCEA Community Engagement Survey | Junior School Students |
Please keep an eye on your inbox for the parent survey link arriving in Week 3. We look forward to hearing your thoughts as we work together to enrich the learning experience for all Swan Christian College families.

Today, the Junior School celebrated NAIDOC Day as part of the College’s Week 1 Term 3 NAIDOC events. Students from Kindergarten to Year 6 took part in a range of activities that recognised and honoured Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements.
Throughout the day, students engaged in classroom-based learning experiences focused on Indigenous perspectives and participated in a NAIDOC Assembly alongside students from Pre Primary to Year 12. Due to space limitations, this Assembly was for staff and students only.
Students were invited to wear their College sport shorts or pants, closed-in shoes, and a plain-coloured T-shirt reflecting the colours of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags, helping create a vibrant and respectful atmosphere for the occasion.
It was a meaningful day of learning, celebration and reflection across our Junior School.
Our Pre Primary to Year 6 Cross Country Carnival is taking place next Wednesday 30 July at Swan Christian College, starting from 8:45am.
Students have been training and are ready to showcase their effort and perseverance on the day. This is always a great event that encourages fitness, resilience and House spirit.
We warmly invite parents and family members to come along and support their children as they run.

Junior School students can look forward to an exciting and purposeful Cambodia Day on Friday 26 September in Term 3, with the Colour Fun Run as the centrepiece of the event.
This annual day is a key opportunity for the College community to come together in support of RAW Impact (Raise Awareness Worldwide), a Christian organisation working to create sustainable change through hands-on projects in Cambodia and Australia.Â
In the lead-up to the day, students will seek online sponsorship for their participation in the Colour Fun Run. All funds raised will go directly to support RAW Impact’s ongoing work in Cambodian communities. A fundraising link will be provided early in Term 3.
Families are also invited to contribute to the event by donating preloved toys, books and games for the Bring and Buy Stall.Â
Cambodia Colour Fun Day is a valuable opportunity for students to engage with service learning in a tangible and meaningful way—celebrating generosity, community, and fun while helping others in need.
We’re excited to invite families to this year’s Junior School production, Hop It, Poppit!, presented by Fenceline Theatre. This original performance promises a delightful mix of humour, heart and important life lessons.
What it’s about
Somewhere far, far away, a king and a queen lived in a castle, surrounded by their royal subjects – except the subjects were not so loyal. The people of the kingdom had grown tired of their king’s unkindness. Over time, he had become harsh and cruel, ignoring the queen’s gentle warnings. Then one day, something strange happened: the prince mysteriously turned into a frog and hopped right out of the kingdom!
Our Junior School students will bring this colourful and meaningful story to life through song, movement and drama. It’s a production the whole family will enjoy.
Earlybird Special
Take advantage of earlybird pricing if you book before 26 September.

On Thursday 24 July, the College hosted the Senior School Interhouse Performing Arts Competition, a much-anticipated highlight in the cultural life of our students. The event showcased outstanding creativity, teamwork and talent from all four Houses as they competed for the top spot.
Each House presented a unique and engaging performance, with students involved in every aspect—from choreography and acting to lighting and stage management. Congratulations to Mungulu House, who impressed the judges and audience alike to take out first place with their vibrant performance of The Jungle Book. Bennett House came a close second with their excellent cowboy western piece.Â
Well done to all students in the houses who participated. Events like these not only build House spirit, but also provide a platform for students to develop and express their creativity in a supportive and encouraging environment.
House athletics season is upon us, with excitement building across the Senior School. Students have been preparing and training in anticipation of the main event—the Senior School House Athletics Carnival.
This year’s carnival will be held at WA Athletics Stadium on Wednesday 6 August (Week 3), from 10:00am with the last event around 2:00pm.
There will also be a number of pre- and post-carnival events beginning this Friday, allowing students to compete in additional disciplines and contribute valuable points to their House.
Parents are warmly invited to attend the main carnival day and cheer on our students as they compete with enthusiasm, determination and House pride.
