Dear Parent/Guardian

As we approach the final week of the school year, this past week has been filled with celebration, reflection and joyful moments across the College. On Monday evening, families gathered for the Fenceline Awards, recognising students who have shown excellence in Fenceline Theatre productions. Our 2025 student leaders took part in the Leadership Camp from Tuesday to Wednesday, developing their skills and vision for the year ahead. Tuesday afternoon’s Blast Off Band Concert was a joyful celebration of musical progress. On Wednesday, the Rooking Debating Club held its final session for the year, and on Thursday, our Year 3 students performed beautifully at the Semester 2 Strings Afternoon. Today, our youngest students delighted parents with their Wriggly Nativity performance, while the Senior School welcomed new students for Orientation Day. Swanonline students wrapped up the year with a fun Engagement Day at Strike Bowling. Meanwhile, our Cadets are heading off on their end-of-year camp, running from Saturday through to Monday.

Looking ahead, next week’s events include:

  • Monday: Lighthouse Leaders Thank You Day; Year 10 Outdoor Education Final Stand Up Paddle Excursion; Year 6 Graduation & Awards Assembly

  • Tuesday: Year 6 Fun Day; Year 7–11 Presentation Night

  • Wednesday: Last Day for all students in Term 4; Year 7–9 Excursion to Outback Splash; Pre Primary – Year 6 Awards Assembly

  • Thursday: Student Free Day

  • Friday: School Holidays

New Social Media Age Rules and Anti-Bullying Review Released

The Australian Government has announced changes to social media laws that will take effect on 10 December 2025. Social media platforms will be required to prevent Australians under 16 from creating accounts. An information kit has been released to support schools, parents and carers in helping young people build healthy online habits. Resources are available on the eSafety website at www.esafety.gov.au.

The Government has also released findings from the Anti-Bullying Rapid Review, which consulted widely with educators, families and students. Education Ministers have agreed to eight recommendations, including a new National Standard on Bullying in Australian Schools. The Review can be accessed at this link.

Midland Line Closure: 22 January – 22 February 2026

As part of the New Midland Station Project, the Public Transport Authority has advised that Transperth services on the Midland Line between Midland and Bassendean will be cancelled from Thursday 22 January to Sunday 22 February 2026.

This closure may affect students and staff who regularly travel to the College using this service. Train replacement buses will be in operation during the shutdown, however we strongly encourage families to plan ahead and allow extra time for travel during this period.

Transperth will be conducting a full awareness campaign to notify passengers, but we recommend checking the latest updates directly via their website: www.transperth.wa.gov.au

Thank you for your understanding as this public transport upgrade progresses.

Reminder: Tagging On to Transperth Services

All students travelling to and from the College on Transperth bus services are required to tag on with their Smartrider card. We have received reports that some students are not tagging on as expected.

Please remind your child that failing to tag on may result in an infringement notice from Transperth. In addition, Transperth relies on accurate tag-on data to determine service levels. If students do not tag on, the number of buses allocated to our College may be reduced.

If a student has lost their Smartrider card, a replacement can be ordered through the Senior School Library.

Thank you for your support in helping us maintain transport services for our students.
