This week has been full of meaningful learning opportunities and community connection across the College. On Monday, we welcomed parents of Year 10 to 12 students for Parent Teacher Interviews. On Tuesday, students across both Junior and Senior School completed the Wellbeing and Engagement Survey, and families received the SCEA Community Perception Survey – we encourage all parents to take five minutes to provide their feedback before Wednesday 27 August. Also on Tuesday, Year 7 and 8 students represented the College in the NEAS Interschool Volleyball competition, while a group of Year 7 to 9 girls took part in the Fremantle Dockers Schoolgirl Cup. Wednesday’s Senior School House Athletics Carnival at the WA Athletics Stadium was a highlight of the week, with students showing enthusiasm, excellence and great sportsmanship. Our Emergency Cadets practised Triangia Cooking during their session. On Thursday, students wore their cosiest outfits for Winter Woolies Day, generously contributing items and donations to the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal. That evening, we hosted Kindergarten 2026 families for a special welcome dinner – a wonderful evening of connection, conversation and a glimpse into their child’s learning journey next year. Today, selected Junior School students participated in the WACSSA Basketball Carnival, while Senior School students were educated about the dangers of alcohol and drugs during a session led by Paul Dillon.

In Week 3, students from both the Junior and Senior Schools completed the Wellbeing and Engagement Census during class time. This WA Government survey gives students in Years 4 to 12 the opportunity to share their experiences and perspectives on wellbeing and engagement at school.
On Week 3, students were also invited to complete the UWA Wellbeing Research Survey.
Also on Tuesday this week, parents received an email inviting them to complete the SCEA Community Perception Survey. Your feedback is highly valued and helps us better understand and respond to the needs of our families.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts as we work together to enrich the learning experience for all Swan Christian College families. The link to complete the confidential survey is here.
We would like to remind families not to park on or use the Stefanelli Group’s private property located across the road from the College for drop-off, pick-up, or turning around. This property is privately owned and not intended for public use, and unauthorised access is creating difficulties for the business operating there.
We ask for your cooperation in respecting our neighbours by using designated College parking areas only. Thank you for helping us maintain positive relationships within our community.
Yesterday, we were pleased to welcome our 2026 Kindergarten families into the Swan Community. The evening was a special opportunity for connection and conversation as parents enjoyed an exquisite three-course meal prepared by Chef Rob and the Hospitality team and students.
Principal Darnelle Pretorius and Head of Junior School Miss Katie Greenhalgh warmly welcomed families before parents moved into the Kindergarten classrooms to gain a glimpse of what their child will experience next year.
It was a wonderful evening and a great start to the journey ahead for our 2026 families.

We’re excited to invite families to this year’s Junior School production, Hop It, Poppit!, presented by Fenceline Theatre. This original performance promises a delightful mix of humour, heart and important life lessons.
What it’s about
Somewhere far, far away, a king and a queen lived in a castle, surrounded by their royal subjects – except the subjects were not so loyal. The people of the kingdom had grown tired of their king’s unkindness. Over time, he had become harsh and cruel, ignoring the queen’s gentle warnings. Then one day, something strange happened: the prince mysteriously turned into a frog and hopped right out of the kingdom!
Our Junior School students will bring this colourful and meaningful story to life through song, movement and drama. It’s a production the whole family will enjoy.
Earlybird Special
Take advantage of earlybird pricing if you book before 26 September.

The Senior School House Athletics Carnival was held on Wednesday 6 August at WA Athletics Stadium. Students competed in a variety of track and field events, giving their best efforts and showing strong House spirit.
In the lead-up to the carnival, some students took part in pre-carnival events, with a few post-carnival events still to be completed. These extra events gave students more chances to earn points for their House.
The atmosphere at the stadium was full of encouragement and healthy competition, with parents, staff and peers cheering from the stands. It was a fantastic day of participation and community connection.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the day a success.
On Thursday 7 August, Senior School students wore their warmest winter clothes (fleecy tracksuits, hoodies, ugg boots, beanies and more) in exchange for a gold coin donation, a non-perishable food item or a new piece of winter clothing.
All donations went to the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal.
