Getting to Swan Christian College

Swan Christian College is situated in metropolitan Perth at the gateway to the picturesque Swan Valley. In close proximity to the Great Northern Highway/Reid Highway/Roe Highway intersection, it is very accessible to parents who wish to drive their children to and from school. The College is also serviced by several Transperth and private buses, making it easy for students to travel to and from school via bus and train.

Parking and Traffic Management

Students being driven to and from school may only be dropped off and picked up in the designated drop-off areas. Please refer to and familiarise yourself with the College parking map, before entering the College property. Cars must not be left unattended in the drop off zones in the carpark. Please observe all "No Parking" and "No Standing" signs and please note that there is strictly no stopping or parking at any time on Great Northern Highway (shire fines apply).

When driving on College grounds, speed limits need to be carefully observed at all times, in particular near the pedestrian crossings.

Members of staff are assigned to the pedestrian crossings in front of the Junior School campus and the Middle/Senior School campus. Parents and students need to obey the directions of staff when crossing the road.

School Bus Services (SBS)

The Government of Western Australia has been providing Transport Assistance to Western Australian families for more than 80 years. The size of our state dictates that many families live great distances from their local school. School Bus Services relieves the burden on these families by providing free transport to eligible students to and from their nearest appropriate school.

SBS also provides orange school bus services for students with special needs.

If your child resides outside of the designated Public Transport Area, you might be eligible to apply for SBS transport assistance.

Please visit the School Bus Services website for the most up-to-date information on students eligibility for transport assistance. If your child is eligible, you can apply for transport assistance via this link: www.schoolbuses.wa.gov.au/TransportAssistance/OnlineServices/Howtoapply.aspx

Bus Behaviour

It is expected that all students travelling on buses will behave in a courteous and responsible manner at all times. As members of Swan Christian College, we are witness to Christ in the community - all our actions reflect on Him. For their safety, students are expected to take the most direct bus route and the earliest available connection. Students are held accountable for their behaviour while travelling unaccompanied to and from the College. Students are to:

  • be dressed in full College uniform
  • stand for adults
  • behave courteously and responsibly at all times while waiting for and on transport
  • do not push
  • do not shout
  • no eating or drinking on the bus
  • do not put your head, hand, arm or any item out of the window
  • if the bell has been rung for your stop, do not ring it again
  • carry your Smartrider or bus pass with you each day.
Similar courtesies are expected on other forms of public transport.
