The Junior School held their dress-up day with students and teachers dressing up as something related to their favourite book.
The dress-up day was part of this year’s Book Week under the theme ‘Escape to Everywhere’.
On a lovely Friday morning at 9:30am, excited students gathered in the undercover area for the Grand Parade. The wonderful Junior School staff performed a play to the reading of the story ‘Echidna Jim went for a Swim’ by Phil Cummings. Mr Dietrich was a very prickly Echidna Jim who caused a great deal of havoc!
The Grand Parade showcased the many and varied costumes. Thank you to all Junior School parents for helping the students to have such wonderful costumes. Winning costumes for each cluster were:
- Kindy / Pre-Primary – Austin W (PPB) as The Man in the Yellow Hat from Curious George
- Years 1 and 2 – Nate E (2B) as Tashi from the Tashi books
- Years 3 and 4 – Ella J (3A) as the spider from James and the Giant Peach
- Years 5 and 6 – Trent M (6B) – as Shaggy from the Scooby Doo comics
A competition for Years 3 – 6 was held during Book Week to guess who Mrs Barnsley would be on dress-up day. New clues were put on the library door each day. Students were encouraged to do some research, using the clues, to see if they could be the first to find the answer. The winner was Tillie O (3B).
Thank you to all who participated and joined in the fun.
A gold coin donation to dress up and a sausage sizzle raised funds to assist with the work in the Philippines. A special ‘thank you’ to parents who came to help prepare the sausage sizzle.
Here are some student comments about their favourite experience at Book Week:
