All parents are invited to join the weekly Prayer Meeting on Monday mornings between 8:30am and 9:00am in the Board Room during school terms, opposite the Caf in the Swan Centre. At the Prayer Meetings parents pray for our College and our community.
Sammy Wyborn is holding Aboriginal Adult and Children's Art Workshops across the Easter holidays.
It has been a dazzling week (27 March to 1 April) at Swan Christian College as more than 70 students and staff presented Disneys High School Musical on Stage.
The Swan Writers Guild is an English Department initiative launched on this 40th anniversary year of Swan Christian College. Entry into the Guild is by the achievement of 80% and over in the preceding years result in English alongside being in the highest selection of students thus represented.
Year 2 have been very engaged in our dinosaur and rock inquiries this term and were very excited to go on our adventure to the Boola Bardip Museum last Thursday. Did you know that Boola Bardip means many stories? Some of our favourite things to see were the dinosaurs.
Parents whose children use the Midland or Airport Lines are encouraged to take note of the line closures between 31 March and 26 April 2023.
It has been a energetic, full and challenging start to the year for our Year 7s.
On 7 and 15 February our Senior School had its first ever full participation house swimming carnival held at Bayswater Waves. The atmosphere on both dates was great, with students, staff and parents coming together to see a record number of students enjoying representing their houses. The Year 10 12 carnival was first on 7 February where Shenton house established the overall lead, ahead of Mungulu and Bell.
Breakfast club has been bustling this term with many students from Year 5-12 coming in and having some food to set them up for the busy day ahead. Often, Ms Walden, who runs the Breakfast Club will make a special and last week it was high protein cinnamon buns, they came out of the oven and flew out the door, hugely popular!
During Week 4 Ms Joanna Walden took her Year 10 Food Technology class out on a camping cook up. When the class arrived at the classroom they collected all the equipment they would need and carried it out to a remote spot on the school oval. Using a camping gas stove, they gently heated some oil and each group put all the ingredients into a zip lock bag. The ingredients were mixed around in the bag (to prevent mess and creating lots of washing up)
After an early wake up call, students and teachers met at the Rottnest Ferry dock in Fremantle ready with snorkels and fins in hand on Wednesday 22 February 2023 for our Year 12 General Outdoor Education Rottnest trip. The purpose of the camp was to assess snorkelling skills learnt after a few weeks of snorkelling theory and excursions at the pool and Mettams in North Beach. The weather was perfect with highs of 27 degrees and good visibility under the water.
On Tuesday 28 February, Linzy from St John Ambulance delivered a very fun, engaging and informative incursion called The St Johns Early Childhood Program, designed to provide free basic first aid training to 4-6 year olds in schools.
A new community event is comng to Perth on 1 and 2 April at Wellington Square with 15,000 patrons expected to run, jump and skate through the gates of Kids Super Sports Fest.
At SCC, awe and wonder forms one of our Living Well themes. In our Christian Living classes, we are reminded that the whole earth is filled with awe at your [God] wonders: where morning dawns, where evening fades, you [God] call forth songs of joy. We realise the influence of leading and guiding students to awe and wonder and seek now to capture this in every subject classroom as we strive to cause our students to learn.
The Mathematical Association of WA is holding a Maths Expo. The expo is targeted at families in the aim to provide support to parents and students with mathematics learning at home by showcasing interactive resources. It will be a fun, interactive day with lots of opportunity to see a variety of resources that make learning fun, and there are prizes to be won on the day.
Valley United CFC's Soccer Season has commenced and you can attend a try out on 16 or 23 March at 4:00pm at Jack Mann Oval.
Ellenbrook United Football Club [107 Verbana Drive, Aveley] will organise a GIRLS FUN DAY on Sunday 19 March 2023 from 11am to 2pm.
On Thursday 9 March Swan Christian College proudly hosted the first Global Leadership Next Gen Conference held in WA. Our amazing Swan Student Leadership Team were instrumental in organising the conference for Year 11 students across the SCEA schools including Ellenbrook Christian College, Northshore Christian Grammar School, Mundaring Christian College and Swan Christian College.
Swan Christian College (originally known as Swan Christian High School) is turning 40 in April of this year. We invite SCEA staff and friends of Swan to register for our 40th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service.
Yearbook 2022 is here, printed and ready to be distributed to 2022 students next week! Yearbook 2022 is packed with memories and stories from the events that took place throughout the school year. From sporting achievements to academic successes, the yearbook captures it all.
